Antares

Vitamin E polyethylene glycol succinate (TPGS) has been recognized for decades as a uniquely intimate combination of polyethylene glycol with natural source vitamin E as d-alpha tocopheryl succinate. The vitamin E content is not less than 25%. The molecular combination provides a material that is both lipophilic and hydrophilic at a very basic level. TPGS may be used in liquids, gels, semi-solids, foams or solid dosage forms in foods, personal care products, or dietary supplements.

TPGS can be used as a readily soluble source of vitamin E. Because of its miscibility in water, TPGS has been shown to be more easily absorbed than other forms of vitamin E and its use may enhance bioavailability of vitamin E for individuals with systems challenged by genetic disorders or disease.

TPGS has been used as a problem-solving pharmaceutical excipient. Its emulsification properties make it useful for enhancing bioavailability of poorly soluble actives. In liquids, TPGS provides an efficient means for incorporating water-insoluble ingredients into aqueous-based or oil-based systems. Depending on use level, equipment, and other ingredients, liquids may retain clarity without color tint. TPGS may be used to make micro-emulsions.
